![]() NOGS Memorial Foundation Founded March 14, 1978, the mission of the New Orleans Geological Society Memorial Foundation is to promote earth science related or scientific purpose by granting of scholarships to outstanding Geology students at the universities in Southeast Louisiana having a comprehensive curriculum and offering a degree in Geology. The Memorial Fund provides for any earth science related educational or scientific purpose that is a direct benefit to grades K-12 teacher or teachers within the Greater New Orleans Area. This area is defined as the area encompassing New Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Bernard and St. Tammany Parishes. Donations to the Memorial Foundation are tax deductible, as they are covered by our IRS 501(c)3 status. Only the accrued interest is used annually for awarding scholarships to Geology students at UNO, Tulane and LSU. Usually, the scholarships are presented to the students at the September NOGS Luncheon meeting. Occasionally, funds are also distributed for selected worthy educational requests. |

The New Orleans Geological Society Memorial Foundation is proud to offer a grant program that supports earth science education, outreach, and scientific research. Grant funding is available to college students affiliated with UNO, Tulane, and LSU who are pursuing studies in earth science or related fields, as well as K-12 educators and high school students in the Greater New Orleans area.
Funding may be considered for educational programs, conference participation, research support, field experiences, classroom initiatives, student organizations, and other activities that align with the Foundation’s mission.
Please complete the online application below for Board review. Applications will be reviewed by the NOGS Memorial Foundation Board, and every effort will be made to provide a timely response. Approved funds may be distributed directly to the applicant or to the affiliated school, university, or organization, depending on the nature of the request and funding guidelines.
